Beginners can blindly rely on flux core welding as it does not require sophisticated details, unlike other welding processes. For amateur welders and hobbyists, flux welding is a perfect choice. Even for the less sensitive and intricate welding flux core welders are recommended.

Flux-core welding is far better than MIG welding for outdoor use. It is great for welding galvanized metals, metals with rust, or other impurities that make MIG welding difficult. A flux core welder is a solution for the problems that MIG welding is unable to sort out.

Forney Easy Weld 299 Flux Core Welder: Best Flux Core Welder for The Money

Forney easy weld is specifically manufactured for hobbyists and DIYers. The only thing in its design that isn’t really reliable is the quality of material Forney is built with. The performance suffers if .35 inches wire is used over .30 inches. It’s also on a  bulky side (42 lbs), making it hard to move.

Despite its pitfalls, it comes with considerable specs. The 120-volt input and 125 amp output are substantial for a machine of this size. Although, the power records are not winning it welds 24 gauge steel up to ¼ inch. This makes it great for most do it yourself projects.

It can use both 2 and 10-pound spools for enhancing flexibility in choosing wires. However, it definitely prefers a certain thickness over any others. It requires no shielding gas to work (a “self-shielded” model). This makes it easier to move around for very little cost in performance and safety.

PROS

  • Easy to use (made specifically for beginners).
  • Good power output.
  • Good welding on mild steel.
  • Self-shielded for ease of use.
  • Sturdy and durable.Good value for money

CONS
